Type Studies
December 2024
Experimentations with technique, material, and scale. The goal was to see how varying executions of typographic forms could reflect different sensations. Some of the materials used were clay, India ink, and pen/ markers. Additionally, the techniques used involved using foam and bristle brushes, blowing ink around, sculpting the clay, and collage. Both the material and execution were intended to be used in a free-flowing stream of consciousness manner. The intent was to generate many ideas that were unburdened by conventional approaches, such as sketching with reference. Eventually, the designs were refined into two final compositions.
